Tonight is probably our last night on the road. We are in Greensboro, NC. We had
a neat day. We were able to meet some of the descendents of Peter Francisco and hear some of their neat stories. They were a precious group of people who are trying real hard to keep the memory alive of a really neat man.
Ben hasn't been feeling very good today, so we left him at the hotel and Steve and Tina and I went out for dinner. It was quite interesting trying to figure out where
we wanted to eat. Several places were ruled out due to long lines, not appealing or a bar type atmosphere. So, as any "real man" would do, Steve decided to take charge and pick where we would eat!!! He chose Lone Star Steakhouse. Sounds okay...I was in the mood for a steak. Well, when we got inside I wasn't real excited about all the beer signs everywhere...but we decided to tough it out anyway. I felt bad for Tina because I know they really try hard to avoid these type places. Anyway...
God evidentally wanted us there...it was providential!!!
Our waitress...Nicki...ended up being the momma of 9 almost 10 children!!! When she heard about both of our families she was sooo encouraged. They have no support in the Greensboro area, but continue to allow God to bless them with children. She made the comment that God has given her much grace in her life. That even though she is having to work to help make ends meet, she wouldn't do it any other way. What an encouragement she was to Tina and I as we sat there and listened to her story.
I shared with her about our walk with cervical cancer and she said I had cervical cancer, too....that was 6 children ago!!! God Bless you Nicki!!!! We tried to encourage her and she more than encouraged us!!! We are praying for untold blessing on Nicki and her family. Nicki, if you are reading this, let us know, okay???
Well, I guess I need to go to bed...tomorrow is going to be a long day...650 miles lays before us!!!!
You all look like you are having the time of your lives! Despite all the sickness, I am glad you could enjoy yourselves.
ReplyDeleteTracy, your transparency is truly beautiful. You have already ministered to SO many people through this trial. It is exciting to see the Lord bring another opportunity across your path to bless His name!!! May God bless Nicki and her family abundantly.
As I was reading in Psalm 112 the other day these verses just stood out as describing you and Steve through all of this. (emphasis mine)
"...Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in His commandments. His seed shall be MIGHTY in the earth: the generation oif the upright shall be blessed." (1-2)
"Surely he shall not be moved forever:the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance. HE SHALL NOT BE AFRAID OF EVIL TIDINGS: His heart is FIXED, trusting in the Lord."
God bless you both. You are a treasure.
Beth and family
You guys are having sooo much fun!! I am so happy for you :)
ReplyDeleteI've been keeping you all in my prayers. Praise the Lord for the opportunities God puts in our paths to be a blessing to others. It is amazing how the blessing was reciprocal. God knows what each one needs before we need it!
Tracy, you have been such a picture of courage and trust in God's sovereignty.
Love,
Molly
