This Tuesday, September 22, marks the 11th year
of our son Zachary's birthday. Our family
is so blessed to have Zack a part of our lives,
more blessed than the average family who
miraculously accepts a new child.
You see, we almost lost Zachary at birth.
We were almost to the point of his delivery when
something happened. His cord came first...this
is called "pro-lapsed cord." This is very serious.
The "normal" protacol is either an emergency
C-section or if that is not possible,
the possible death of the child.
This is where a precious woman by the name of
Char Lynn Daughtery became a life saver. Char Lynn
was my midwife for this joyous event. Never in
almost 20 years (at that time), had she ever
experienced a pro-lapsed cord. Of course she had
read about them, studied them and all that, but had
never experienced one. We were her first.
This Godly woman, along with the knowledge she had
gained by her studies, and a heart and head dedicated
to serving the Lord and hundreds of new mommas, had
only the GREAT PHYSICIAN to lead her thru this. And
that is just what she did.
With lights dimmed and soft praise music playing, she
cried out to God for help. Thru her calmness of spirit
and God's incredible intervention, Zachary safely
entered the world.
It wasn't until weeks and even a couple years later that
I realized details of the birth. All I know is that
we can only be full of gratitude to a beautiful, Godly
woman by the name of Char Lynn who allowed us to have
our wonderful son.
You will always hold a VERY special spot in my heart,
Char Lynn. I will love you forever!!!
I know she will not like the pic I placed below...
but it's the only one I could find.
Char Lynn Daughtery
What an honoring post! Twenty years ago, our first precious grandchild came into the world. What a different experience that was for me! My children were born in the cold, impersonal environment of a hospital (hey, thank God for hospitals when you need 'em!!) where the medical personnel were "god" and you were simply a bystander.
ReplyDeleteWhen Kitty was born, it was in a warm family-welcoming environment in a little house in E. Lakeland. And Char Lynn made it the most wonderful birth experience we had ever been involved with. Her competence and strength inspired confidence in Beth and Eddie and Kitty's grandparents, as she sat crosslegged on the bed, quietly and lovingly guiding and encouraging.
We, too, along with you, Tracy, bless her and thank God she followed His call to minister to families in this way!
And Happy Birthday to Zack! God has already used him in a great way in your family, and He has a wonderful plan for his future!
In Christian love,
Bonnie and Dan Frodge
Thank you, Mrs. Frodge, for your comment. If anyone else reads this and has something to add, please do...we need to let Char Lynn know how much she is appreciated!!
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful tribute to an exceptional woman who has literally impacted thousands of lives! Through her vision, hundreds of women and their families have experienced the birth process as it should be experienced.
ReplyDeleteCharLynn delivered Kitty on her own (CharLynn's) birthday and also delivered Sarah Beth. The birthing centers that she and her husband have begun and overseen have been a tremendous blessing to our family and extended family. 7 of my own children were born there, as well as 10 neices and nephews.
Thank you, Char Lynn!
And thank you to our Heavenly Father for precious Zachary. What a unique individual he is - we love him!
Love,
Mama Discher :)
We were blessed with Char Lynn helping bring three of our babies into this world. She was a perfect combination of excitement and peace. She encouraged when you needed some adreneline, and was peaceful when you needed comfort and rest. I'll never forget her experienced but tender hands guiding my babies into the world, and will be eternally grateful for her devotion to such a noble endeavor.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Katie
P.S. Happy birthday, Zachary! You are a precious gift from God that always brings a smile to the faces you meet!
Tracy, thank you for sharing that wonderful story. Midwives are sooo special to the Lord, in fact two in particular were named specifically in the Bible, Shiph'rah, and Pu'ah. They feared God rather than man, therefore God dealt well with them. They were instrumental in the children of Israel multiplying and becoming very mighty. The Lord rewarded them and made them houses. Exodus 1:15-22. I love that! Zack, our Savant man, who never ceases to amaze us. Happy Birthday, Buddy!! Love, Mrs. Stokesies
ReplyDeleteSorry for taking so long to comment!
ReplyDeleteI just have to join in and sing the praises of Char Lynn (who has been greatly used by the Lord)as well.
I had 6 babies at Labor of Love (soon to be 7!!) but only our first, Callie, was delivered by Char Lynn. But, praise the Lord, she was there! I had a great labor and delivery, but afterward my uterus failed to start contracting back as it should and I was bleeding very badly.
Char Lynn cried out to the Lord, gave me some herbs, etc. and the bleeding stopped.
I am so thankful for her quick thinking and many years of experience. She is such a fantastic midwife.
I have not ever had that problem again (I take tons of Red Raspberry during each pregnancy now!) I just thank the Lord for her!
And I thank the Lord for that sweet little guy, Zack! May God bless him and use him for God's glory!
Love,
Molly
